About this book

Overview

Author and publisher Melissa Marsted wrote the original manuscript for The King's Balloon in 2002 and is thrilled that her book is finally coming to life with the delightful and classic illustrations. The original concept came from a hot air balloon set of Legos(TM) given to Marsted's son. Marsted subsequently learned that the Montgolfier brothers invented the first hot air balloon and flew a duck, a rooster and a sheep over the gardens of Versailles in Paris, France, on September 19, 1783. Marsted fictionalized her story, but included additional historical facts about that period in France and the history of hot air balloons. Up, up, and away!
